GBMD: And the day came...
With the cold winds and frosty nights we've had lately, I've had to have words with my apples. I've told them their blossom should stay snug and warm for a little while longer.
It seems I've given them the more painful option.
Fingers crossed for the apple harvest...
How's spring faring in your neighbourhood?
It's cold.
ReplyDeleteIt is - frosted grass on my early morning walk earlier. The later sun is warm though, which is tempting these apples to blossom.
DeleteYes, it's cold. Even today when the temperatures are supposed to be rising. And it's raining. But over the last week the trees have started to green up. Perhaps the promise of warmer days ahead might be true after all.
ReplyDeleteYes, there's a magic day when the trees go from a suspicion of green to a zingy lime which proclaims 'spring is here' :)
DeleteI'm still waiting for my apples to produce anything very much - but they were only planted last November. The pears are well in leaf but no buds. It has been very cold though with bitter winds so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteHi Spuddle and welcome to Veg Plotting :) Fingers crossed for you - if you do get blossom, don't let it go onto fruit. Your trees need to spend this year putting down a good root system, so you get good crops in future years.
