GBMD: Ah Sunflower

Ah Sunflower, weary of time,
Who countest the steps of the sun;
Seeking after that sweet golden clime
Where the traveller's journey is done;

Where the Youth pined away with desire,
And the pale virgin shrouded in snow,
Arise from their graves, and aspire
Where my Sunflower wishes to go!

William Blake (1757-1827)

Chosen in celebration of today's International Sunflower Guerrilla Gardening Day :)

  1. Thanks for the reminder. I'm planting sunflowers today!
    Happy Gardening!
    Lea's Menagerie

  2. Hi Lea - so will I, if it ever stops raining! Suspect they'll have to be pot sown *sigh*

  3. What a beautiful idea. I'll have to wait 6 months but I love it - I can think of all sorts of places I can put seeds. I collected a heaps from my flowers this year so I can spread the joy quite liberally.

  4. I can't wait to go planting, I have a few great places hat I hope will spread joy.

  5. Can't wait to plant the sunflowers and see them grow...then I know the warm weather is here

  6. I LOVE sunflowers but have not been successful in growing them! I had a couple of flowers and LOTS of ugly leaves!

    Looking forward to seeing pics of YOURS!

  7. Liz & ediblethings - hurray, I've just found another packet!

    Linda - I'm starting mine off in pots so the slugs don't get them.

    Donna - oh yes, can't wait for the warm weather :)

  8. Thank you for the reminder. I simply must have them in my garden!

  9. Angela - welcome! They're so cheerful aren't they and good for the birds in winter too if you leave the seed heads :)
